Building Brighter Futures for
Children Experiencing Homelessness
At the We Build Foundation, we have witnessed the struggles, the triumphs, and the resilient spirit of children and families who have found themselves without a place to call home. Among the heartbreaking realities we encounter, one of the most concerning is the long-term impact of childhood homelessness. When children experience homelessness, they face numerous challenges that can have lasting effects on their mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Moreover, the trauma and instability associated with homelessness can lead to long-term mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Without positive intervention and support it is common for children experiencing homelessness to face housing instability as adults, again, perpetuating the cycle that spans far too many generations.
This is where we, The We Build Foundation, and our communities can play a vital role by providing essential resources to break the vicious cycle. At the We Build Foundation, we serve children experiencing homelessness by providing access to transformative experiences that promote growth, education, and emotional well-being. Based in Howard County, Maryland, our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization offers scholarships to ACA-accredited summer camps in Baltimore and the surrounding areas. Our scholarships are funded entirely by donations and grants. We provide funding opportunities for children to participate in summer camps that offer enrichment in sports, the arts, cooking, leadership, entrepreneurship, public speaking, and financial management, ensuring that all children, regardless of income, can enjoy safe, enriching summer activities that help shape their future.
